This presentation, which will stem out of my 2-month research grant at Universita di Verona, analyzes the influence of Boccaccio on Cervantes with respect to the creation of the novela. In addition, the combination of travel and storytelling (again, related back to Boccaccio and his Decameron) serves to highlight the themes present in El curioso pertinente (Don Quixote) and some of the tales in Decameron.
