My presentation examines the lack of chivalry demonstrated by the two male protagonists in the intercalated short story El curioso impertinente in Part I of Don Quixote. The paper will also delve into a discussion of the curious placement of such a novel set in Renaissance Florence in a larger work (Don Quixote) dedicated to chivalry. Parts of my presentation are directly related to my 2-month research grant during this period.
