UNCW is my Alma Mater. Earned MSN-NE in 2011. Over 30 years RN experience. From staff, med/Surg nurse to Director Position for a Rehab facility to Hospice and Home Health team coordinator in WI, in NC worked in Performance Improvement at a Medical Center, Hospice Hospital liaison for all area hospitals in Charlotte, NC area. In Wilmington, appeals and denials and case manager for Medical Center in all intensive care units (5), rotated to Women/children hospital, Orthopedic hospital as needed and covered the Trauma team case management as needed. Obtained AD RN in MI 1984, BS RN in IL 2003. In 2011 worked contingent for Brunswick Community College (BCC) ADN clinical instructor. In August 2012 promoted to full-time faculty at BCC, didactic, clinical, simulation, and nursing lab. Other nursing experiences in Leadership, Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, Research, Ethics & Legalities/Politics of Nursing, and Infection Control for a large acute care healthcare system, and a neurological rehab facility.
In Fall 2016 began work for UNCW, clinical faculty for sophomore, junior, and senior capstone undergraduate BSN students. Spring 2017 Began teaching UNCW RN to BSN Online (OAP) course Population & Community Health for the RN to BSN program. Presently teach OAP courses NSG 408 Population & Community Health, and NSG 321 Gerontology Nursing & End of Life Care OAP courses in the RN to BSN year-round, and the BSN undergraduate clinical in NSG 405 Community Health in the Fall and Spring. Fall 2018/Spring 2019 NSG 250 Course coordinator/lecturer/lab for first semester BSN undergraduate course continued clinical with Population & Community Health and RN to BSN OAP course work- Population & Community Health. Continued Fall 2019 NSG 250 Intro to Assessment Lab, NSG 405 Population & Community Health and RN to BSN NSG 321 Gerontology & End of Life Care and NSG 408 Population & Community Health.
Currently attending Graduate DNP Leadership studies through Gardner Webb University. Fall 2019 studied Human Flourishing & Health Promotion 3 credit hours (course letter grade earned- A), and Population Health 3 credit hours (course letter grade earned- A). Studied Evidence-Based Care 3 credit hours (course letter grade earned - A), and Health Program Planning and Evaluation 3 credit hours (course letter grade earned -A), for Spring 2020. Registered for Summer 2020, Health Economics, Policy, & Ethics (course letter grade earned - A), and DNP Project I (earned full credit). Registered Fall 2020 Informatics (course letter grade earned - A), and DNP Project II (earned full credit). Currently enrolled in Nursing Leadership for Spring 2021, and DNP Project III through VII, awaiting IRB approval for the research project.
