Overview

  • Pam Toll graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Art and English and earned an MFA in painting at East Carolina University in 2004. She co-founded Acme Art Studios in 1991, a working studio space which hosts art events and exhibitions, most recently in conjunction with the Wilmington Fourth Friday Gallery Crawl. After a profound painting experience at St. Joakim Osogovski International Art Colony, Toll resolved to bring Macedonian artists to NC. In 1998 she and two partners established "No Boundaries International Art Colony" whose mission is to lay aside national boundaries in favor of cross cultural exchange. Since then, 150 artists from Europe, Africa, South America, Australia, Asia, and North America have participated. In 2007 and 2011 Toll participated in the "Paint a Future" project in Brazil , France and South Africa. She donated over a dozen paintings to the organization; sales of two donated paintings provided new homes for two families in Brazil. In 2008 Toll participated in Simposio Internacional de Artistas en Noja, Spain; in the summer of 2010 an exposition, "Dream Time" opened at the Palacio Albaicin, also in Noja. In 2009 she was nominated for a United States Artists Fellowship.

In May 2011 I will travel to Plettenberg Bay, South Africa to work at a new Paint a Future symposium. Also key to this new work are my own childhood drawings, an indecipherable language of an earlier voice, which suggest a collaboration which collapses time. Drawing...
